An armed robbery turned into an unwelcome tea party early Friday when the robbers discovered the money bag was filled with iced tea, not dollar bills. Police are on the look-out for two men who followed a West Avenue businessman to his Michigan Avenue residence shortly before 1 a.m. Friday, stuck a gun in his face and demanded what they believed to be a bag of money, Ashtabula Police Sgt. John Koski said.

A veterans organization at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is collecting care package items for troops serving overseas. The Vets 4 Vets student club will collect the items through Dec. 4 in the financial aid office in student services. UWGB has a dozen students who are serving abroad.

Roanoke's public works crews no longer suck up leaves piled curbside. As a result, longstanding leaf collection outfits are raking in piles of new business this year in the city. And competitors are popping up like fall mushrooms.
